Dozens of residents of an apartment complex in the South Bay have been displaced following a fire that began in a carport Monday afternoon, firefighters said.
According to the Santa Clara County Fire Department, the fire broke out at a complex on Kuehnis Drive shortly before 1 p.m. First responders evacuated an apartment building next to the carport and the fire threatened an attached laundry facility.
The fire burned three vehicles before it was knocked down about 45 minutes later, firefighters said.

Exterior windows on 10 apartment units sustained significant heat damage during the fire. About 60 residents units have been displaced as of Monday afternoon.
The fire department said in a statement that the American Red Cross was on scene to provide relocation assistance and support to impacted residents.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, firefighters said.
