Councilmember Jurado launches new homeless outreach team
Lincoln Heights—Councilmember Ysabel Jurado launched a new homeless outreach team dedicated to constituents in the 14th Council District including El Sereno, Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights, Eagle Rock, Highland Park and downtown. The group is called the Leading Outreach with Valued Engagement, or LOVE team, which is a partnership with Urban Alchemy, a homeless services provider. The Eastsider

Atwater Village—A memorial service is planned next month for the Reverend Toni Freeman Stuart, a former vicar of St. Francis in Atwater Village from 1993 to 2000, according to her obituary. Stuart became an ordained Episcopal Priest in 1990 and spent the next 15 years leading several churches, including St. Francis, before retiring to Carpinteria, where she continued her ministry at St. Michael’s. She died on Jan. 2, 2026 at the age of 88 after battling cancer for more than a decade. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14 at St. Michael’s University Church in Isla Vista.
