A 29-year-old man was arrested Monday after allegedly shooting at two people following a physical altercation at a business, police said.

Rudy Aaron Molano was taken into custody at a residence near Church and Holloway avenues, the Fresno Police Department said.

The incident began Sunday when Central Policing District officers responded to a shots fired report at First Street and Clinton Avenue. Two victims told officers they were at a business near North First Street and East Belmont Avenue when Molano exited the establishment, made eye contact with one of them and punched the victim.

When the victim attempted to defend himself, Molano returned to his vehicle, displayed a handgun and drove away, according to police.

The victims later noticed Molano’s vehicle following them near First and Tulare streets. As they attempted to avoid him and made a U-turn toward the freeway, the vehicles passed each other. Molano allegedly aimed a firearm at the victims and fired approximately three to four rounds, police said.

Felony Assault Unit detectives identified Molano as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. During a search of the residence where he was arrested, detectives found ammunition consistent with that used in the shooting, police said.

Molano was booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges related to the shooting investigation.
