WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — An Oakland County man is facing charges after destroying multiple license plate cameras to pieces, according to police.
Spencer Anderson, 24, of Clarkston, was charged with three counts of malicious destruction of police property.
Additionally, police are also seeking restitution for the damage.
He was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for March 11.
On Feb. 23, Waterford police learned that their Automatic License Plate Readers within the township were no longer working.
Officers went to their locations and found the cameras forcibly broken from their mounts and “smashed to pieces,” police said.
One of the cameras, however, caught Anderson’s car and its license plate just before he smashed the camera, police said.
Investigators also obtained video footage from a nearby business that also caught Anderson exiting the car and using a blunt instrument to hit two license plate cameras until they broke off their mounts, police said.
