Watching planes take off and land while standing at the large window of an airport lounge is just about your favorite pastime, you say? And you love movies featuring aviation, and real-life history clips, and really anything to do with flight, its history, and the future of the skies?

Then you’ll want to wing your way to Long Beach Airport Oct. 25 for the popular Festival of Flight, a free offering that offers static displays of planes on the LGB Airfield.

Yes, the key word here is “static,” so expect to stroll by eye-catching aircraft that aren’t soaring up above but are close enough for visitors to walk by and admire.

Over two dozen aircraft will be on view, share the organizers, with the Goodyear Blimp making an appearance (while expected attendees can change, there is an initial list of what you might see on this page).

Live music also adds to atmosphere, and there are diversions for the younger visitors to join, too.

It’s a busy day out, with plenty to see, and the key word is “busy,” for sure; this is a well-attended event, and organizers encourage using public transportation.

However you arrive, you should review details about the shuttle service and just how to reach the airfield, as well as what is permitted at the festival and what is not.
