Theatre lovers across San Diego County can experience live performances at discounted prices this month as San Diego Theatre Month returns for its 11th year.

During the month of March, the annual program — organized by the nonprofit San Diego Performing Arts League — spotlights productions from dozens of local performing arts organizations in hopes of making “live performance accessible and affordable for everyone.” Spectators can explore a variety of shows spanning theatre, music, dance and comedy at San Diego’s biggest stages and more intimate venues, with tickets available for $15, $30 and $45.

“San Diego has one of the most dynamic theatre communities in the country,” SDPAL president Jay Henslee said in a news release. “Theatre Month is our invitation to audiences across the region to experience that creativity firsthand.”

This year, SDPAL has selected its inaugural San Diego Theatre Month artist ambassador, award-winning playwright Christian St. Croix, who is based in San Diego.

“Every lasting moment in my career came from someone choosing to make space,” St. Croix, based in San Diego, said in a news release. “Theatre survives because artists and audiences continue to show up for one another and share in the experience together.”
