WASHINGTON (TNND) — Britney Spears was arrested in California on Wednesday night for a DUI.

Law enforcement sources shared details of the Ventura County arrest with TMZ.

Spears was arrested by California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and was booked by the local sheriff’s department around 3 a.m. According to inmate records, the popstar was released from jail around 6 a.m.

The arrest comes after Spears’ recent legal win, where she was granted a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who showed up at her Los Angeles home after several “disturbing posts” on social media. The 51-year-old man had been harassing the singer since 2013, according to a court filing obtained by TMZ. He was arrested for trespassing at her home last year.

The arrest is not the first legal trouble Spears has faced. In 2007, in an alleged hit-and-run incident with a parked car, she faced misdemeanor charges and a possible jail sentence. The charges were eventually dropped after Spears paid the owner of the car for damages. A mistrial was declared when the jury deadlocked in her trial for driving without a license, the outlet reports.

Spears later lost custody of her two sons after the hit-and-run incident due to concerns about her alleged substance and alcohol abuse.
