Britney Spears arrested in California, deactivates Instagram

44-year-old entertainment superstar Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Ventura County, California, on Thursday, March 4, according to multiple reports.

Spears is due back in court on May 4.

According to PEOPLE, Spears’ Instagram account was deactivated around the time of her arrest.

Before she was booked and released by the Ventura Sheriff’s Office, the 44-year-old Spears had posted a bizarre video of herself dancing in lingerie and censoring herself with heart emojis.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” a Spears rep said in a statement.

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline share two sons: Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19.
