The fiery teppanyaki show always brings smiles at Teppan Tora at Fort Washington and Friant in northeast Fresno.

Chef Jerry Phommavong is also here to please your palate.

“I just love to cook and entertain people, that’s it,” he said.

His fried rice bowl juggling skills are as impressive as the taste of his food.

Owner Sayuri Edwards says some visitors like to grill for their own.

“A-5 Wagyu is like the most premium beef you can get,” Edwards said.

The marbled Wagyu is unmistakable.

The detail put into sushi selections like the Omakase box demands your attention.

“Omakase means, ‘I leave it up to you.” Edwards said.

We also got a taste of the halibut, fresh shrimp with wasabi and the temari sushi.

Sushi rice forms the base of the Tora tostadas.

“They have the crispy rice on the bottom and spicy tuna, avocado on the bottom, and then a slice of the jalapeno,” Edwards said.

This one will warm you up.

The rich broth in the sukiyaki hot pot features thinly sliced beef and noodles.

Dishes are paired with craft cocktails.

Chef Jerry sometimes takes his act on the road – to homes.

“We do mobile service, we do private catering to their house,” he said.

Chicken teriyaki completed our teppanyaki meal.

If you prefer to eat in peace, the koi pond is the place.
