Phi Pham was identified by family as the man shot during a series of freeway shootings Wednesday morning.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Family members said the victim in a series of Sacramento-area freeway shootings is in stable condition and heading into surgery.

Phi Pham was identified by family as the man shot during a series of freeway shootings on Wednesday morning. His family said he is 50 years old and an Uber driver.

The California Highway Patrol said the first shooting happened just after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday near Highway 160 and Northgate Boulevard. Pham was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.

Investigators have not identified any known relationship between the suspect and the victims, and the incident appears to be a random act of violence, according to CHP.

CHP said 33-year-old Raymond Calderon of Sacramento was arrested and accused of firing at several vehicles across Sacramento-area freeways. Investigators confirmed that a total of four vehicles were hit by gunfire.

Authorities recovered two firearms following Calderon’s arrest, which are being tested to determine whether they were used in the shootings.

Calderon is expected to face several felony charges.
