Police are investigating after a man was found dead with blunt-force trauma near May Street and Jessie Avenue in Sacramento.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento police are investigating after a man was found dead Wednesday afternoon with blunt-force trauma injuries.

Officers with the Sacramento Police Department responded just before 3:15 p.m. Wednesday to the area of May Street and Jessie Avenue for reports of a possible deceased person.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from blunt-force trauma injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene to take over the investigation. Police said investigators processed the scene, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation, and no suspect information has been released.

The identity of the man will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin have been notified.
