Body parts discovered in East Oakland about two weeks and four miles apart are from the same person, police confirmed Thursday.
On Feb. 1, officers were sent to the 9700 block of San Leandro Street, close to the Oakland/San Leandro city border, where they found “a body that appeared to be in a state of decomposition and dismemberment,” Oakland Police Department officials said at the time.
Then on Feb. 16 at about 1 a.m., officers were sent to the 1700 block of 37th Avenue in the Fruitvale neighborhood, where they found human limbs that were also in a state of decomposition.
“The human remains discovered on February 1 and February 16 have been confirmed to be from the same individual,” police officials said Thursday.
Police haven’t released the person’s name, gender or cause of death and have yet to announce an arrest.
