The Anaheim Ducks and forward Ryan Poehling agreed to a four-year, $15 million contract extension that carries an annual cap hit of $3.75 million, the team announced on Thursday

The deal will keep him in Anaheim through the 2029-30 campaign.

Poehling, 27, has seven goals and 24 points in 54 games with the Ducks this season.

He was acquired by the Ducks in the off-season along with two draft picks from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Trevor Zegras.

The 6-foot-2 centre was on the final season of a two-year, $3.8 million contract that carried a cap hit of $1.9 million. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Drafted 25th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2017, Poehling has 50 goals and 119 points in 337 career games split between the Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Flyers, and Ducks.

The Lakeville Minn., native represented the United States at the 2018 and 2019 World Juniors, winning bronze and silver, respectively. His five goals and eight points in 2019 was good enough for him to be named tournament MVP and best forward.
