Alysa Liu is an Oakland figure skater who proudly returned to the Bay Area after winning gold at the 2026 Olympics. The 20-year-old skater is from Oakland and even trained at the Oakland Ice Center. The Bay Area couldn’t be prouder of the Olympic Champion, and shortly after her win, Oakland announced it was organizing a community celebration to honor Liu.

Now, Oakland has revealed more details for the celebration. The city will host a celebration rally outside of Oakland City Hall on Thursday, March 12, from 12 to 1:30 pm. Doors for the event will open at 9 am, and organizers recommend arriving early for the best viewing spots, as it is expected to attract many people. The event is free, although organizers released tickets for the fair, which have already sold out. Organizers plan to release more tickets soon, and due to limited capacity, you will need to register in advance. Alysa Liu will, of course, be in attendance at the celebration on Thursday and will give a speech. The event is family-friendly, and you can expect food trucks in the plaza.

If you want to see Liu on the ice, she will join the Stars on Ice tour, which will stop in San Jose this May. The tour includes top skaters, including Olympians  Ilia Malinin, Isabeau Levito, and Amber Glenn. The tour is a theatrical show, not a competition, so you can look forward to some incredible performances from Liu and other skaters. The tour will stop in San Jose on May 17, 2026, and tickets are going fast.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for the community celebration next week. You can learn more and register for the free tickets here.
