Arts District Liberty Station – one of California’s state-designated cultural districts – is opening a new exhibition at Gallery 201 this spring, and it’s one to put on your radar.

A Curator With Deep Roots in the Border Arts Scene

Francisco Eme steps in as the newest Curator-in-Residence through the David G. Fleet Curator-in-Residence Program.

A composer, multimedia artist, and 2024 San Diego Art Prize recipient, his practice weaves together sound, visual media, and community engagement across the San Diego – Tijuana region.

Two Artists, One Shared Experience

Fragmented Stories features new paintings by Emerging Artist Residency alumni Eden DeLaVara (San Diego) and Marcela Alarcón López (Tijuana).

Both spent six months working from a studio inside Arts District Liberty Station, developing work rooted in border identity, belonging, and the realities of creating amid social and political uncertainty.

Meet the Artists at the Opening Reception

The free opening reception on March 12 is a chance to meet Eme, DeLaVara, and Alarcón López in person and hear about their creative process.

The exhibition runs through July 17, so there’s plenty of time to visit – but the opening is where the conversation starts.
