Bears return to Redwood Shores for two-day invitational.
Bears To Face Off With 5 Programs On Home Waters
The California men’s rowing team will race on home waters for the first time in 2026 this weekend as the Golden Bears welcome crews from Oregon State, Stanford, UC San Diego, Santa Clara and San Diego for the Redwood Shores Invitational. Cal will have six varsity eight crews taking on the visiting programs in the two-day event.

This will be the first time that all of Cal’s boats will be competing out on the water this season, after only the fourth varsity and the freshmen eight made their 2026 debuts at the California Challenge Cup in Newport Beach last weekend. The Bears swept the competition, with both crews dominating their respective dual races to set up a battle of the Bears in the finals, in which the fourth varsity eight ultimately lifted the Henry T. Nicholas III Challenge Cup. Cal’s boats put up the top six times of the entire men’s event, finishing every 1400-meter race in under four minutes.
