The California Highway Patrol launched a hit-and-run investigation Friday after a pedestrian was struck and killed on an Interstate 680 off-ramp in San Jose, the agency said.
The collision happened at about 12:29 a.m. Friday on the northbound I-680 off-ramp to Alum Rock Avenue, the CHP said.
Responding CHP officers found the pedestrian, a 63-year-old San Jose woman, being treated by medical personnel at the scene, the agency said. Officers were told the woman was found in the roadway, and they determined that she suffered injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.
The woman was taken to a local hospital but did not survive, the CHP said.
The collision is being investigated as a hit and run, but the CHP did not immediately share any information about the potential suspect or suspect vehicle.
