Q. Who is organizing the 2028 Games?
LA28 is the non-profit organization responsible for planning, financing, and executing the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. LA28 works directly with the City of Los Angeles, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Q. What is the City’s role in the 2028 Games?
The City of Los Angeles is the Host City of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Los Angeles is the central point for events, athlete housing, and community celebrations. The City provides essential services and leads city coordination while partnering with LA28.
Q. How will the City benefit from hosting the 2028 Games?
The Los Angeles region is anticipating nearly $18 Billion in economic activity and 90,000 job opportunities as a direct result of hosting the 2028 Games. Beyond economic impact, the City of Los Angeles believes that the Games are more than a summer spectacle; they can be a catalyst to reimagine civic infrastructure, strengthen community resilience, and expand opportunity for all Angelenos — a “Games for All.” Powered by art, culture, and play, this vision will continue to strengthen the city long after 2028 with neighborhoods activated, civic spaces reimagined, and a renewed sense of belonging and stewardship felt across every corner.
Q. How is Mayor Bass ensuring the success of the 2028 Games?
Mayor Bass created the Office of Major Events to oversee the delivery of a safe, successful, and fiscally responsible 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Mayor Bass also signed Executive Directive 16 to streamline city preparations. To ensure equity across all Games efforts, Mayor Bass hired the City’s first Accessibility Chief in the Office of Major Events and signed an Accessibility Commitment. Mayor Bass is preparing L.A.’s local workforce, small, and historically underutilized businesses through tailored programming, and continues to build a strong civic volunteer corps through ShineLA.
