BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 24-year-old Bakersfield man accused of beating another man and leaving him in the street in June 2025, where he was later run over, appeared in court Friday on a murder charge.

Alberto Felix pleaded not guilty back on Feb. 25, 2026, in the death of Justin Randle, 34.

According to court documents, Alberto Felix was in a car with two other suspects in June 2025, when the driver, 24-year-old Salvador Gutierrez, allegedly accelerated toward 34-year-old Justin Randle, who was standing alone in a parking lot. Randle was struck and ran away.

Court documents say Felix and Gutierrez then chased Randle toward 11th and H streets, where they allegedly beat him until he lost consciousness. Randle was left in the road and was later run over by an uninvolved driver.

Randle was found on June 7, 2025, at around 2:44 a.m. in the 1100 block of H Street, said Bakersfield police. The Kern County coroner determined the following month that Randle died from blunt injuries and his death was ruled a homicide.

Felix is due back in court on April 6, 2026, for another hearing.

Police are still searching for Salvador Gutierrez, who is wanted for murder. Guiterrez is described as 5’11” tall with black hair and brown eyes.
