Registered sex offender Rene Campos failed to reach the required number of signatures to be included on the ballot for the Fresno City Council District 7 race.

Campos had submitted documents for candidacy but still needed to obtain 20 nomination signatures from registered voters in District 7 to the Fresno County Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. on Friday.

Campos was charged with being in possession of child sex abuse material in 2018. The Fresno native says he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge.
