Gas prices across Southern California are climbing as global oil markets react to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in California approached $5 per gallon on Friday, with drivers paying about $4.90 on average statewide, according to AAA. The price represents an increase of nearly 10 cents in a single day.
Prices have risen even more sharply in parts of Southern California since the start of the conflict. In Los Angeles County, the average cost of gas has increased by about 30 cents per gallon. Drivers in Orange County are paying roughly 34 cents more, while prices in San Bernardino County have climbed by about 36 cents per gallon.During an interview with Reuters on Thursday, President Donald Trump said he was not concerned about the rising fuel costs despite the recent increases at the pump.
