A weekend of miniature railroading is rolling into the Kern County Fairgrounds, where the Golden Empire History of Model Society is hosting its 32nd annual Model Railroad Show Saturday and Sunday.

The event will feature several operating display layouts, along with more than 100 tables of sellers for people looking to add to their model railroading collections, said Doug Wagner, Treasurer of Golden Empire History and Model Society The show also includes displays geared toward children, including a Lego layout and a Thomas the Tank layout.

Wagner said the show began after the group moved into the building in 1994 and needed a way to raise funds to maintain the space and build its layout.
The show will be held at Kern County Fairgrounds, Wagner said. The layouts on display for the event are modular and transportable, with most coming from the Los Angeles area and a couple from the local area.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Admission is $10 for anyone 13 and older. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult. Admission is good for both days, allowing attendees to return Sunday.
