USAFA, Colo.—Samantha Macasu and Mikaela Pitts recorded the Spartans’ top scores of the night to lead the San José State women’s gymnastics team to a 195.725 in a tri-meet at Air Force with Denver Friday night.
Macasu led the team with a 9.900 on bars, while Pitts led the vault team with a 9.850.
The bars team started the meet off strong with a 48.950, led by Macasu’s season-best 9.900. Victoria Kisch and Kaviana Jurries each had a 9.800, while Sophie Patterson and Genesis PeBenito each scored a 9.725.
The beam team then scored 48.900, led by Marissa Ashton and Patterson, who each had a 9.825. PeBenito and Macasu had a 9.775, while Devyn Valuch had a 9.700.
Jurries led the floor team with a 9.825, as the Spartans scored a 48.875 in the third rotation. PeBenito and Patterson each had a 9.800, Mia Nelson with a 9.750 and Kaylee Larson at 9.700.
The vault team saved the best for last, posting the best event score of the night with a 49.000. Mikaela Pitts led SJSU with a 9.850, followed by Patterson at 9.825, Valuch at 9.800, Jurries at 9.775, Macasu at 9.750 and Olivia Reardon at 9.650.
UP NEXT – The Spartans return to the Bay Area for a tri-meet at California with Stanford on Friday, March 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
