Republican Congressman Kevin Kiley announced he will run for re-election in California’s 6th District this year as a no party preference candidate.Kiley now represents the 3rd Congressional District, which was split into parts of six districts after voters passed Proposition 50. Earlier this month, Kiley announced he will run for re-election in District 6, which includes Roseville, Rocklin, and Orangevale.In a statement released Friday night, the longtime GOP lawmaker announced he filed as a no party preference candidate. “As an elected representative, I’ve always seen my role as being an independent voice for our community, holding politicians in Sacramento and Washington accountable to serve my constituents,” Kiley said. “I answer to you, not party leaders. That’s the kind of representation I believe the newly-drawn sixth district deserves.”Kiley is running against Democrats that include former State Sen.
