The San Jose Sharks are recalling defenseman Nolan Allan from the San Jose Barracuda, SHD has learned on Friday.
Allan, 22, was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks on January 8. Allan was one of the options Sharks GM Mike Grier referenced as a potential recall following the trade of Timothy Liljegren.
Allan registered two assists for the ‘Cuda in their 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday. Through 21 games with the Barracuda, Allan has two goals and 10 assists.
The left-handed d-man has played 43 games in the NHL for the Blackhawks last season. In those games, the 2021 NHL Draft 32nd overall pick had one goal and seven assists.
Luca Cagnoni was another option to be recalled, but will remain with the San Jose Sharks farm system despite leading the defense in points with 33 (seven goals, 26 assists).
The New York Islanders visit the Sharks on Saturday. Following that game, the Sharks will go on a five-game road trip, starting in Buffalo on March 10.
