SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Surveillance video obtained by ABC7 Eyewitness News shows the moment a man standing on a San Francisco Chinatown street corner is stabbed in the back.
“From the first minute, we are so scared. From the beginning- we are so scared,” said Rawnie Chan, a Chinatown store manager.
Rawnie Chan is the manager of the store that captured the surveillance video.
She says she was working around 1 p.m. Thursday when she heard a scream and immediately ran outside to see what had happened.

“The ladies try to help him to stop bleeding. And then within one minute, there’s so many police coming and the ambulance coming,” said Chan.
Emergency dispatch audio confirms a large response to the incident.
Chan tells ABC7 Eyewitness News after being treated on scene, the man was eventually put into an ambulance and transported to the hospital.
The video and the incident as a whole, are the talk of Chinatown.

But, we spoke with several people and all of them say they believe this is an isolated incident and that the neighborhood remains safe.
After being the center of many high-profile crimes in the past several years, Chinatown has since seen crime drop drastically.
And Chan says the local community remains tightknit.
“This store is over 20 years, and I worked here six years. The community, we know each other. We know each other. The community is very good,” she said.

The suspect in the stabbing was later arrested after leaving the area.
Speaking to media on Friday afternoon, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins says her office is working to make sure the man is held accountable.
“We have to do more to make sure we have an adequate police presence. We will not be able to prevent everything but when something does happen, there has to be accountability,” said Jenkins.
Police told people on scene that they did not believe the victim would die from his injuries.
