Police officers shot and killed an armed robbery suspect late Saturday night at a convenience store in West Compton, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Law enforcement responded to a report of an armed robbery near the intersection of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Figueroa Street just after 11 p.m. Upon arrival, officers saw the suspected robber behind the counter of the cash register and tried to communicate with her.

LAPD said the suspect brandished what appeared to be a firearm, prompting officers to open fire on her. The suspected robber was shot by officers and died at the scene, according to police.

The name of the suspected robber was not released, but LAPD described her as a 30-year-old woman.

Police did not say if any employees of the convenience store were hurt in the robbery. No officers were injured,
