(FOX40.COM) — A police car was hit and a suspect vehicle caught on fire during a pursuit Saturday night in South Sacramento, according to deputies.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said patrol deputies witnessed a car committing traffic violations around 9 p.m. near 15th Avenue and 42nd Street.
The driver led SCSO on a pursuit when deputies attempted to stop the car. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Ricky Harding, turned off his headlights to hide his car in the dark, the sheriff’s office said.
Harding was traveling on southbound 43rd Street when he ran a stop sign at 8th Avenue and crashed into an uninvolved Sacramento police car.
SCSO said the police car ran into a residential fence as a result of the crash. The suspect vehicle then caught on fire.

He is being held on a $500,000 bail and is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday.
