Fullerton Police Department launched a new online reporting system March 3, titled “Community Report.”

Citizens can make non-emergency reports online, accessing the system through Fullerton PD’s website under the “Police Services“ tab, then by clicking “File a Police Report.” From there, the options to file a police standard report or a traffic collision report will be available. The AI-powered survey should take around 40 minutes to complete, can be paused or added to at any time and has an estimated department response time of 2 days.

Only crimes that occurred within the city of Fullerton and not on state freeways, such as I-5, S-57 or SR-91, can be reported through the system. Reportable crimes include: assault, burglary pertaining to unattached garages, storage units, businesses and vehicles, trespassing and credit or debit card fraud and financial crimes under $100,000, identity theft, documented child custody violations.

More violent and hate crimes, such as domestic violence or sexual assault, must be made in person.

Upon submitting an online report through the system, a temporary number will be provided while officers review the submission for necessary information. If additional information is required, the department will notify the complainant.

“We have about a dozen people that are reviewing and approving those reports, and eventually we will get all of our supervisors trained, so it should just be a matter of a couple of days,” said Kristy Wells, Fullerton police department public information specialist.

Powered by long-time tool of the department, Versaterm, Community Report allows police officers to respond to more emergency calls efficiently, as well as allowing citizens the ability to report without having to enter the police station or wait for hours of operation.

Wells specified that this addition could potentially be helpful to those with disabilities, 9-to-5 jobs, demanding academic schedules, or those who generally have something preventing them from physically coming to the station.

Versaterm, the system powering Community Report, is a “commuter-aided dispatch for law enforcement and fire.” Community Connect, also launched by Fullerton PD with Versaterm in November 2025, will send a text message to callers making a report and will notify them when an officer is dispatched to their call, along with a disposition number and a follow-up survey for feedback.

“We have the Versaterm part for entering a call for service and reporting, we have the survey community engagement side, and then we now have the online reporting which is just another tool for our community to use,” Wells said.

Fullerton PD’s front desk is open for in-person reports and by phone 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and is closed on Sunday.
