SAN JOSE, Calif.–  This Week in San José State Athletics returns to catch you up on last week’s action and see what’s ahead for the Spartans, including a game on NBC Sports Bay Area!

Men’s Basketball
Last Week: The Spartans fell short against Fresno State on Tuesday, March 3, 82-68 at Fresno. They then had their senior day on Saturday, March 7, where they fell short against Wyoming, 88-78. 

This Week: The Spartans will hit the road and take part in the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas, where their first opponent will the No. 6 seed Boise State on March 11.

Women’s Swimming and Diving 
This Week: The Spartans will participate in the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Flagstaff, Ariz. Then they will head over ot Ocala, Fla. and compete in the CSCAA National Invitational Championships.

Women’s Golf 

Last Week: On Tuesday, March 2, the Spartans defeated No. 1 Stanford, 4-2 in the Battle of the Bay. 

This Week: The Spartans will participate in the Juli Inkster Invitational at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.

Women’s Gymnastics 

Last Week: The Spartans placed third in a tri-meet against Air Force and Denver, on March 6 with a score of 195.725. 

This Week: The Spartans will take part in a tri-meet against Cal and Stanford on Friday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Berkeley, Calif.

Women’s Tennis 

Last Week: The Spartans concluded nonconference play in a tight win against Santa Clara, 4-3 on Thursday, March 5. 

This Week: The Spartans will commence conference play at GCU on Friday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. PST.

Softball 

Last Week: The Spartans hosted the second Silicon Valley Classic where on Saturday March 7, they split a doubleheader against Santa Clara, winning the first game 3-2, and dropping the second, 4-1. On Sunday, they faced Saint Mary’s, winning both games with scores of 5-1 and 6-2. 

This Week: The Spartans will face UNLV in their conference play opener from Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15, at the Spartan Softball Complex.

Baseball

Last Week: The Spartans fell Pacific, 11-5 on Tuesday, March 3, and was swept by Pitt in three games over the weekend.

This Week: The Spartans will face Cal in a midweek matchup on Tuesday, March 10 at Excite Ballpark. They will then have a series against New Mexico from Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15, at the Excite Ballpark.

Women’s Waterpolo

Last Week: The Spartans saw matchups against No. 4 Cal and No. 24 Pacific, but fell short to Cal, 22-10, on March 7 and dropped their match against Pacific, 15-14 in overtime on March 8. 

This Week: The Spartans will face No. 2 UCLA on Saturday, March 14, and then they will face No. 13 Harvard in the Aztec Invitational on Sunday, March 15.

Women’s Beach Volleyball

Last Week: The Spartans traveled to Honolulu to compete in the Hawai’i Tournament. They lost to Saint Mary’s 4-1, Pepperdine 5-0, and No. 12 Hawai’i 4-1. The Spartans then won their next three matches against Chaminade, 5-0, Concordia University Irvine, 4-1, and UNCW, 3-2. 

This Week: The Spartans will host and compete against Siskiyous, an exhibition game, and Saint Mary’s on Friday, March 13. The Spartans then play an exhibition game against Cabrillo College and Pacific on Saturday, March 14.
