The Chabad Coronado Jewish Community Center recently completed a successful Shoe Drive, collecting more than 200 pairs of shoes to support students in the National City School District.
Led by Joan Kibrit and Eliz Abadi, volunteers gathered on January 19 to clean, sort, and pair the donated shoes, ensuring they were ready for distribution. The shoes were delivered to the National City School District on February 5, where Chabad of Coronado representatives personally handed them out to kids and adults in need.
In addition to delivering the shoes, volunteers helped students pick out the pairs they wanted to take home, creating a meaningful and personal experience for everyone involved.
“We wanted to give the gift of letting someone else walk a mile in our shoes,” said Zeldi Fradkin.
The impact of the visit was deeply felt. One participant shared a heartfelt blessing with the volunteers, saying, “I wish that God gives you twice what you are giving us.”
Chabad of Coronado would like to thank Joan, Eliz, and all of the volunteers and donors who contributed their time and shoes to make the drive a success. Onto the next one.
The Chabad of Coronado serves as a welcoming hub for cultural, educational, and social programs, enriching the lives of individuals and families throughout the Coronado community.
