CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — A bomb threat prompted lockdowns and a shelter-in-place order across the Clovis East High complex, including the Reyburn Middle School campus.
Clovis Unified Police and the City of Clovis Police Department are actively searching the gyms.
Once those areas are secured, students will be moved systematically from classrooms to the gyms.
After students are relocated, officers will begin searching each room on campus.
CUSD Chief Communications Officer Kelly Avants released the following statement:
Clovis East and Reyburn Intermediate are currently on a Shelter in Place safety status while school administration works with law enforcement to investigate a suspicious call received by the school that contained a threat to student safety. This call was received during lunch and students were moved first to classrooms and are now being moved under adult supervision to our gyms.Though this call had hallmarks of a hoax, we take any possible safety concern seriously and are exhausting every measure to confirm no threat exists to students. Students attending today’s Latino Success Conference will remain at the conference until our Shelter in Place is lifted.
