OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — On Monday, a candle was visible outside a lounge in Oakland where two people lost their lives and five others were also shot early Saturday morning.

Oakland police released the identities of the two people shot and killed at EZ’s Lounge on 14th Street-33-year-old Latetia Bobo and 25-year-old Markise Martin.

Five others were also struck by gunfire but survived. Oakland police said officers detained multiple individuals at the scene and recovered several firearms. A motive has not been released.

A GoFundMe was set up by Martin’s brother, Lawrence Mcgee, to pay for funeral expenses.

“Martin was a loving son, a devoted father to his one-year-old daughter,” Mcgee wrote on GoFundMe.

Martin’s mother, Tanya Scarbrough, said over that phone that they killed her when they killed her son.

Kalin Joshua Freeman, Bobo’s friend, told ABC7 Eyewitness News Reporter JR Stone that the news was hard to believe.

“That’s horrible,” Freeman said. “It’s just unbelievable because she’s so kind. She’s a great teacher. She’s a great singer. She’s an artist and it’s not computing in my mind, like, why would somebody, why was she just in that situation to lose her life and everything?”
