BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person was killed in a helicopter crash in a remote area outside Mojave on Monday afternoon, fire officials said.
The incident was reported at around 3:17 p.m. near Oak Creek Road and 90th Street West — a remote area west of Mojave.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash and said a MD Helicopters 369FF was the model helicopter that crashed. “The helicopter rapidly descended into terrain while laying powerlines,” the NTSB said in a statement.

Kern County fire officials said crews arrived and found the burning wreckage of the downed helicopter. The fire was extinguished and one person was confirmed dead.
NTSB investigators are headed to the crash site. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
