FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno High School student who died after collapsing on campus has been identified as 14-year-old Daniel Padilla Jr.
Fresno Unified officials say the incident happened when Padilla Jr. collapsed during a physical education class while playing basketball.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Students on campus said they were stunned by the emergency and devastated to learn their classmate did not survive.
In a statement, the district said, “Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, and school community during this incredibly difficult time.”
No additional information has been released by the district.
