BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man on probation was arrested after officers allegedly found drugs, an unregistered gun, and ammunition during a search in central Bakersfield.

The Kern County Probation Department said on October 21, 2025, officers with the department’s Adult Probation Services Division conducted a home call in the 2000 block of First Street in Bakersfield.

Officers talked to Briant Deneal Williams, who is on felony probation.

During the search, officers allegedly found suspected methamphetamine inside Williams’ pocket, and a loaded, unregistered .22 caliber Ruger MKI semi-automatic pistol concealed inside of Williams’ boot, according to the probation department.

The department said a search of his vehicle found an additional round of ammunition.

Williams was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs with two prior qualifying convictions under Proposition 36 and a violation of probation.
