A person is in critical condition after being struck by a car while on a scooter near Crescent Lawn on Monday night.
The Berkeley Police Department received calls beginning around 8:05 p.m. about the collision, which occurred near the intersection of Oxford and Addison streets. Two people were on the scooter when the accident occurred; the passenger on the scooter sustained significant injuries and was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to BPD.
The scooter operator was not injured, according to BPD, which added that the operator and the car’s driver both cooperated with investigators at the scene. The fatal accident investigation team, which handles both serious and fatal collisions, was called to the scene.
Roads in the area were closed while the investigation was ongoing, but were later reopened as it concluded, according to an advisory sent by BPD at 11:26 p.m.
