Two children were hit by a car near a Fresno school Tuesday, police said.
Fresno police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said officers responded to a call of two hit pedestrians at Shaw Avenue and First Street around 2:45 p.m.
Responding officers noted the crash happened near First Street and Fairmont Avenue near Carter G. Woodson Multimedia School. The school serves seventh to twelfth graders.
Vega said both pedestrians are around 12 or 13 years old. They were transported to a nearby hospital.
Police are still investigating, but Vega said initial reports say the kids were running across traffic outside the crosswalk.
