The Cowboys’ defensive revamp continues.

Dallas traded Osa Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers, the team announced Wednesday evening. The 49ers are sending a third-round pick in next month’s draft to Dallas as part of the deal.

Last offseason, the Cowboys signed Odighizuwa to a four-year extension worth $80 million.

Dallas is looking to rebuild its defense after a disappointing 2025 season. The team’s defensive line now includes veteran players like Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark. The Cowboys also agreed to terms with free agent nose tackle Otito Ogbonnia earlier this week.

Odighizuwa spent five seasons in Dallas, posting 216 total tackles. He also recorded 81 quarterback hits, 34 tackles for loss and 17 sacks.

Dallas originally drafted Odighizuwa in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft. He finished the 2025 campaign with 44 tackles, 23 quarterback hits, six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
