A stabbing suspect was taken into custody after leading deputies on a short pursuit from Rolando to La Mesa on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
A patrolling deputy found a man with a knife wound on the sidewalk at the corner of Lincoln and School streets in Lemon Grove just after 1 p.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was taken to the hospital. Officials did not provide details on his condition but said that they believe he is “stable.”
SDSO issued a lookout notice for the suspect and learned that his vehicle was last spotted on Campanile Drive. Deputies caught up to him on University Avenue in Rolando, where a pursuit ensued.
The chase was short-lived, as the driver pulled over to let his passengers out on the state Route 125 northbound transition ramp to eastbound Interstate 8. La Mesa police then took the suspect into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
A hard closure was in place at SR-125 north to I-8 east, according to the California Highway Patrol, but traffic was flowing again by 6 p.m.
