A burglar used a garden hose to rappel into a Sherman Oaks residence and steal tens of thousands of dollars in money in clothes, the LAPD told NBC4 Investigates.
Police responded to the burglary report at about 10 p.m. Thursday in the 4500 block of Woodman Avenue in the west San Fernando Valley. The resident had been out of town and returned home to find his residence ransacked.
The burglar had tied a garden hose to an air conditioning unit and rappelled down one floor onto the home’s balcony. The thief then entered through a sliding door.
A safe with about $20,000 in cash and clothes worth about $20,000 were stolen, police said.
Investigators said there is security camera video that will be part of the investigation. No arrests were reported early Friday afternoon.
