A convicted teen murderer who was on the run for two days after cutting off his tracking monitor was taken into custody Thursday night, Anaheim police said.
Jose Angel Aguilar, 22, was on a court-ordered academic furlough at Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday when he cut off his GPS device and left the school.
Aguilar was serving time at an Orange County probation juvenile facility for a murder he committed in 2021, the OC Probation Department said.

In February, Aguilar was granted weekly academic leave so he could attend college classes. However, the probation department asked on March 6 that Aguilar’s furloughs be vacated due to “violations.” The probation department said his furloughs were not vacated.
On Thursday night, Anaheim SWAT found Aguilar in a motel room and took him into custody.
