Ramos took on the role in 2021, after a track record of success at the Fullerton-based nonprofit hospital founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. She began her career as a bedside nurse, followed by roles as vice president of patient care services, chief nursing officer, and chief operating officer.
Have there been specific moments in your life and career that have had a significant impact on who you are today?
My inspiration began at age 9, hearing my nurse-grandmother’s stories and seeing her joy in caring for others. That early calling shaped my career, and today, witnessing our teams’ impact on the lives of our patients continues to reinforce why I chose health care.
What have you learned about navigating challenges?
Never underestimate your capabilities. The Covid pandemic proved just how much we can achieve when pushed beyond the familiar. Together, we accomplished what, in the moment, felt insurmountable. We built new systems, adapted quickly, and relied on each other’s expertise to meet our community’s needs.
Are there specific strategies that have helped you accomplish your goals?
Every day, I reflect on the last 24 hours to improve the next, reminding myself that leadership is not a position or title but supporting others through our work together.
