RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team (8-8) opened its three-game road series with a 7-3 loss at UC Riverside (5-13) Friday afternoon at the Riverside Sports Complex.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
UC Riverside opened the scoring in the second inning and built a 5-0 advantage through four innings of play.
San Francisco trimmed its deficit in the top of the fifth inning when Zach Nagy recorded an infield single, scoring Jayden Garison to get within 5-1. Jared Lewis plated two runs later on with a double to left-center field to cut the Highlanders’ lead to 5-3.
The Highlanders added two insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings and held the green and gold scoreless in the final two frames to solidify the victory.Â
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Lewis recorded his first multi-hit game for the green and gold this season, going two-for-four at the plate with a double and two RBI.
TJ Rogers also added two base hits throughout the contest, highlighted by a double to left field in the top of the eighth inning.
Despite the loss, Gabriel Barrett pitched four innings and struck out five batters, his fourth outing of at least five strikeouts this season.

San Francisco continues its road series at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 14, when it takes on UC Riverside at the Riverside Sports Complex.
