SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Forecasters are warning of hot conditions across parts of San Diego County in the coming week, prompting another Heat Advisory from the National Weather Service.
The advisory will impact coastal and inland valley communities as a “long-duration early-season heat wave” moves into Southern California, meteorologists noted.
The Heat Advisory is set to begin Monday at 10 a.m. and will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists say temperatures will climb well above the seasonal averages throughout the week. Expected highs include:
80 to 90 degrees near the coast
100 to 105 degrees in inland valley areas
The hottest days are expected Thursday and Friday, when temperatures could approach or break daily records.
High temperatures across the region could run 20 to 30 degrees above normal for this time of year, the National Weather Service warned.
Where to see the California superbloom — if it happens
A Heat Advisory is issued when temperatures are expected to become hot enough to pose a health risk, particularly for people without access to cooling or those spending extended time outdoors.
While not as extreme as an Excessive Heat Warning, an advisory signals that conditions could lead to heat-related illnesses, especially during prolonged hot weather.
Officials have urged residents to take precautions during the heat wave, providng the following tips:
Stay in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun
Check on relatives, neighbors and vulnerable residents
Limit outdoor recreation during the hottest parts of the day
Additionally, workers spending time outdoors are advised to take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
Anyone showing signs of heat illness should be moved to a cooler location immediately, officials said. Heat stroke is considered a medical emergency, so 911 should be called if needed.
This heat wave follows another that occurred just last week, which broke multiple temperature records across San Diego County on Friday.
