A 66-year-old pedestrian was killed Saturday in Madera.
Officers responded to the fatality at 6:50 p.m. at Vineyard and E. 6th Street.
Officers said a vehicle drove east on E. 6th Street, briefly stopped at the stop sign at Vineyard Avenue, then proceeded through the intersection as the pedestrian walked north in the west crosswalk.
The driver struck the pedestrian and stopped. Police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was cooperative and remained on the scene, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol are a factor.
