BRENTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A Brentwood gas station unveiled a new four-foot dinosaur statue Sunday, months after the original figure was stolen and badly damaged.

The statue, known as “Claire,” was taken in late September when a man used power tools to pry it from its spot at a Sinclair gas station before loading it into a pickup truck.

Claire was returned a few days later but suffered significant damage.

A beloved dinosaur statue was returned Monday after it was stolen from a Brentwood gas station.

During Sunday’s unveiling event, community members gathered to welcome the replacement statue.

The station’s owner said the new installation is meant to bring joy to visitors.

“Everyone is here for the dinosaur. The dinosaur is just giving a little hope and happiness to the community, especially after the fires,” he said.

The owner, John Fawcett, added that the new statue includes added security to deter any future theft attempts.
