Two adults were injured in a shooting Sunday night after a fight between groups on the Santa Monica Pier, police said.

Santa Monica police received a 911 call around 9 p.m. reporting shots fired at Pier Burger on the pier, according to Lt. Lewis Gilmour, the department’s public information officer.

Officers responding to the scene found a large group fighting and learned that gunshots had been heard during the altercation, Gilmour said.

Police located one shooting victim on the pier with injuries described as non-life-threatening. This victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

A second victim later self-transported to a nearby hospital, police said. Both victims are adults.

Authorities initially closed the entire pier to the public while officers responded and began investigating. Portions of the pier remained closed during the investigation Sunday night.

No suspect information was immediately available.

Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident connected to the two groups involved in the fight.

Santa Monica police detectives are investigating the incident.

Additional information will be issued on Monday, authorities said.
