A person was fatally stabbed Friday in an apartment building in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, police said.

Officers were called around 2:10 p.m. March 13 to a building in the 900 block of Howard Street, between Fifth and Sixth streets.

Despite resuscitation efforts by officers and paramedics, the victim died at the scene, police said.

No details were released about the attack or the victim’s identity.

It was the 10th homicide reported by San Francisco police this year. Oakland has recorded 14 and San Jose six.

The Howard Street building is about two blocks from the site of San Francisco’s previous homicide, the March 4 shooting of a man near Sixth and Minna.
