The final few days of winter will feel more like summer in Southern California.
It’s going to be a very hot week, once again. Let’s look at the weather warnings, advisories, and what to expect in Los Angeles.
Monday: Heat Advisory
NBC Los Angeles meteorologist Belen De Leon said the heat will start building Monday across our region, with temperatures well above normal on the horizon through Friday.
A Heat Advisory was issued from 10 a.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday for the LA County inland coast, including Downtown Los Angeles. High temperatures could reach between 90 and 98 degrees. The Heat Advisory also spans the San Fernando Valley, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Ventura County valleys and mountains, the San Gabriel Mountains, and more.
There’s also a Heat Advisory from 10 a.m. Monday through 8 p.m. Friday for these areas:
Orange County inland
Inland Empire: San Bernardino and Riverside County valleys
Malibu Coast
Ventura County beaches
Coastal temperatures could reach up to 90 degrees, and 95 to 105 degrees inland over the next five days.
De Leon said record-breaking heat is likely, with the possibility of temps breaking daily or monthly records this week. High temps will be 20-35 degrees above normal for this time of year.
“This is going to be the hottest stretch we’ve had since 1988, but we’re going to get through it,” De Leon added.
Cooling Centers and heat safety
Follow LA County’s heat safety tips and make sure you stay hydrated, stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and do not leave children or pets in unattended cars.
If you need relief from the heat, check out this map of LA County Cooling Centers near you at local libraries or senior centers. Times vary by location, but this is a good way to get out of the heat and into some air conditioning.
Tuesday: Extreme Heat Warning
Hot conditions will persist Tuesday through Friday.
An Extreme Heat Warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Friday for the LA County inland coast, including DTLA, for “dangerously hot conditions with temperatures between 96 and 104 expected.”
This warning also spans Calabasas, Agoura Hills, the San Fernando Valley, Ventura County valleys and mountains, and San Gabriel Valley, and includes these cities:
Woodland Hills
Universal City
Culver City
Pomona
Malibu Bowl
Santa Clarita
Valencia
Pasadena
Moorpark
East LA
Compton
Van Nuys
La Cañada Flintridge
Newbury Park
Topanga
Thousand Oaks
Glendale
San Gabriel
Burbank
Beverly Hills
Westlake Village
There’s a high risk for heat illness during this time, so take precautions by drinking plenty of water, wearing lightweight clothing, and limiting strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
A long stretch of heat is in store for Southern California, making for a winter warm-up. Kelley Moody has your First Alert Forecast for Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Wednesday
The Extreme Heat Warning continues, with temps in the mid-90s in DTLA and potentially the triple-digits, about 100 degrees, in the valleys and inland empire.
De Leon said the peak of this week’s heat will be Wednesday through Friday, when temperatures run 20-35 degrees above normal.
Thursday
The Extreme Heat Warning continues; Thursday’s heat will feel similar to Wednesday’s conditions.
Friday
Friday marks the first day of spring, but it sure won’t feel like it. The Extreme Heat Warning continues through 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday
With the extreme heat behind us, temps will cool down slightly by Saturday and a bit more by Sunday.
